Oscars 2012: Colour

28 Feb

I’m super glad some actresses brought some happiness to me by wearing a brighter hue. There was a lot more of this at the after parties, which is such a shame as it would have been much more dramatic had it been for the ceremony.

However, I do get to praise Emma Stone and Viola Davis for being bold in their colour and design. Cam and Clare are both styles I should really hate, but due to their colour I’m loving.

Your faves?

Oscars 2012: White trend

28 Feb

I’m the first person to champion any colour but black on the red carpet but I can’t get past that white is still potentially boring either.

Luckily we have some sweet couture to make our minds up hey?

Oscars 2012: WTF

28 Feb

I don’t know what I hated more, the ridiculous leg splitting that Angelina had going on or the fact that Stacy Kiebler went as an Oscar.

And Rosario, I swear if this leg split posing becomes I trend I’m going to be so mad!

Oscars 2012: After party best dressed

If Diane and Elizabeth had walked the red carpet, it would have brightened it significantly.

No really.

Oscars 2012: Best Dressed

28 Feb

After what I really felt was an underwhelming Oscars I finally picked my best dressed.

If it was a top 3, 100% I would have picked Jessica Chastain in Alexander McQueen, Gwyneth Paltrow in Tom Ford and Meryl Streep in Lanvin.

But I really adore colour on the red carpet and I felt like Lesie Mann in Roberto Cavalli and Michelle Williams in Louis Vuitton were the best of that bunch which perfect styling to not let them down.

It’s hard for me to not pick Emma Stone, but her look was similar to the Nicole Kidman Balanciaga in 2007 and too be honest there was too much fabric in her skirt.

Who are your favourites?

Best Oscars dresses ever

26 Feb

As I’m super excited that the Oscars are tomorrow I’ve been thinking about my favourite dresses so far. Without a doubt it’s when everyone brings it and ups the stakes. Whilst in latter years there haven’t been as many standouts I hoping we’ll get a resurgence tomorrow.

What are your favourite looks from Oscars past?

Cate Blanchett in John Galliano, 1999

Charlize Theron in Vera Wang, 2000

Julia Roberts in vintage Valentino, 2001

Kate Winslet in Ben de Lisi, 2002

Jennifer Garner in vintage Valentino, 2004

Michelle Williams in Vera Wang, 2006

Nicole Kidman in Balenciaga, 2007

Anne Hathaway in Armani Prive, 2009

Zoe Saldana in Givenchy, 2010

Mila Kunis in Elie Saab, 2011

It was a pretty hard decision to whittle it down to 10, so I’ve only picked one look from each award show in the few occasions there was a tie. Also it’s important to note I only picked one black dress- ladies take note colour reigns supreme.
